Chris Brown standoff: Singer surrenders to police - Mercury News

The unidentified woman said Brown pointed a gun at her during a violent rage, which allegedly prompted her to run outside and call police, sources told the Times. Officers attempting to enter Brown's home were told to get a search warrant.

The incident began around 3 a.m. Tuesday after reports surfaced of a woman calling for help at Brown's residence.

The woman, who made the call from outside of Brown's home in the early morning hours, was no longer at the property, police said.

At about 12:30 p.m., Brown's attorney Mark Geragos was escorted through the police barricade and walked toward the house. About an hour later, LAPD Lt. Chris Ramirez said police were serving a search warrant on the home, and an unknown number of people were exiting the residence.

Police came to the house but Brown would not let them in without a warrant, reports said. He allegedly threw a duffel bag out a window containing a weapon and drugs. He also taunted the police, saying "come and get me," and posted videos on his Instagram account referencing Black Lives Matter in declaring, "(Expletive) the police."

Oh yeah ... then there was that whole beating-up-Rihanna thing, when the singer spent six years on probation after being convicted of beating up his then-girlfriend the night before the Grammys in 2009. He was also involved in an assault outside a Washington hotel in 2013.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the surreal standoff, covered live on social media, extended into early afternoon Tuesday until officers gained access to the singer's Tarzana home to look for a weapon the performer is said to have used to threaten a woman. Shortly after, TMZ reported, Brown exited the house but was not handcuffed and appeared to be a good spirits.

Singer Chris Brown was seen exiting his house, sans handcuffs, following a hours-long standoff with Los Angeles police that began when he was accused of threatening a woman with a weapon on Tuesday morning.

The Times points out that there have been a number of incidents at the house, including a home invasion robbery and a number of complaints of Brown and his buddies racing up and down the street on ATV vehicles.

It was not known what would happen next in the case. Several members of Brown's "entourage" were also seen leaving the house, TMZ reported.
