Le’Veon Bell blasts Vontaze Burfict: He’s got to go, NFL can’t condone this – ProFootballTalk

01/13/2018

I am really looking forward to this World Series. It’s gonna be a great one.

Bell is right. They’ve tolerated this guys’ ridiculous brutality far too long. Dude gotta go.

Burfict should get suspended for this nonsense, and considering his history. He is out of control.

Coach, father, [football] fan — Burfict has to be suspended immediately and the suspension has to be substantial, but more has to happen. This type of behavior goes all the way back to ASU (probably further) so there’s definitely something rattling around upstairs — he needs to see a psychologist and clear evaluation before he’s allowed back on the field.

345 Park Ave. World’s clueless center…

After Burfict kicked at the head of Steelers fullback Roosevelt Nix in a pileup during Sunday’s game, Bell posted a video of the incident on Twitter and blasted Burfict for his behavior.

If the NFL doesnt suspend him they are as crazy as him.

I think having to play for the Marvin Lewis Bengals is punishment enough.

but he stands for the anthem so he’s good for the league right???

Why? Your union will only file an appeal and the Goodell haters will say how unfair he is being for holding players accountable. Suspending a player today means endless court battles, headlines screaming how Goodell screwed up again. How about the Bengals firing him and no other owner hire him? Can’t do that either because NFLPA will scream he is being blackmailed.

Went back and watched that game with NFL game pass, and the kick was just one of the few cheat shots Burfict had in that game. Wouldn’t surprise me if he is suspended again. Dude just keeps getting in his own way.

dirtdawg53 says: October 23, 2017 at 7:43 am Nothing will change until his prime enabler, Marvin Lewis, is also suspended. No, wait. That won’t change anything. Because Lewis is a dimwit who will continue enabling him.

He just doesn’t get and never will. Unfortunately, he has enablers in his coach and owner.

The week before Mitchell had two penalties worth a suspension and he gets a fine that set him back about the same as wearing illegal socks. Mitchell’s history is worse than Burfict’s. That was at least the third guy concussed with a crown of the helmet hit by Mitchell. Only players on high Q score teams could get away with it.

Burfict is trash, this is true. Unfortunately, LeVeon Bell plays for a team that publicly glorified extracurricular BS from Hines Ward for more than a decade. It’s hard to take any Steeler player’s whining seriously on this topic.

Bell’s comment is sad.

——————

They love Burfict. More $$$ for them after fines.

“Dude gotta go, man,” Bell wrote. “That’s not football at all.”

6 games at least. This would be his 3rd suspension so it might even be longer

Burfict is a cancer to the NFL, & society, in general. Gooddell needs to kick him out of the game, before he seriously, & permanently, injures someone. There’s no place in football for garbage like this.

Does Burfict stand for the anthem?

Excellent point! If the Union is so concerned about player safety, why doesn’t it fine & suspend players for this kind of behavior? ——————–

People who think that Burfict kicked Nix probably say they were punched when they were only shoved. The ref, who was right there and saw it, didn’t throw a flag. If he did, he could have penalized Nix for the shove after the play ended.

Wait…did one of the Steelers just call out a guy on another team for being “dirty”? Funny stuff.

I agree, suspensions & fines aren’t working on the player. Maybe start fining/suspending the coaching staff? Is that even possible? Fining the team itself is pointless unless you’re talking about seven figures or more. Just sayin’. —————————- Hmm, let me think…Ohhh, yes they can! I remember they fined a coach $750,000 for filming the opposing sideline from a non-approved spot for 13 minutes of the first quarter of the first game of the season, and there wasn’t even a specific rule in the rule book, just a recently distributed ‘memo.’ Never mind the draft picks… Oh and then there was this time that they fined a franchise $1,000,000 and took away more draft picks because nobody at 345 Park Ave ever graduated past 7th grade science! I think that there was another coach in Cleveland once that went to a drive-through restaurant naked, but who hasn’t done that?

“Kicked at his head “ not kicked him in the head. So, you all want him suspended for kicking the air?? Sad.

I agree

He’s probably been laying kids out since his first peewee league practice. And you want him to change now.

Bur in my head.

In the game Nix took several shots at Burfict after the whistle to rile him up. He took the bait on that one.

They sleep while the NFL self-destructs…

As a Ravens fan, it’s always a tough pill to swallow when it comes to agreeing with a Steeler. But, in this case, it’s evident that Burfict is not capable of changing his playstyle. I don’t know if its temper, competitive spirit, or whatever else…but there’s no excuse for this kind of behaviour on the football field.

I know its bias related to “your team” but do the Steelers fans on this board not realize that they have multiple dirty players on their team or in their recent past that they defend to the end of the earth? Like is that not obvious to them or do they just not care because “that’s my guy”. If Burfict was the heir apparent to James Harrison he’d be celebrated in Pittsburgh. That’s not really debatable.

steaksandwichandsteaksandwich says: October 23, 2017 at 8:33 am (1) Steelers dominated the game. Congrats. (2) Nix (45) initiated with the shove and Burfict (55) reacted. Bell’s edited version doesn’t tell the whole story. _______________________________

Oh okay. The league is condoning this. But if the league suspends anyone, the players union attacks them, calling them unfair. Why doesn’t the union suspend him?

Sad part is, Burfict doesn’t need to play bush league ball: he’s got all the skills to excel without gooning it up.

Only when you overreach your authority/commit fraud, Roger. The rest of the time, discipline works as it should.

Oh you mean like the helmet to helmet not called on ABs first catch? How about he late hit on Ben AFTER the play had been blown dead? Hahaha poor little Bungals fans will always and I mean always be the Steelers little brother.

Ban him? Thats harsh.

Lewis is fine with Burfict, just like Pacman! Please Bengals keep Marvin Lewis.

Exactly! I think a lot of people are quick to want to jump on the suspend Burfict bandwagon without even watching the video. That being said….he is not a bright man and should know by now he is under the microscope and can’t do anything stupid. Yet he still does.

stoneydog1000 says: October 23, 2017 at 8:36 am “Kicked at his head “ not kicked him in the head. So, you all want him suspended for kicking the air?? Sad. ____________________________________________________________________

Burfict also slapped Nix in the head as he ran by him later in the game. There is a clip out there of that. I guess he couldn’t handle Nix owning him all game.

Decon Jones, Jack Tatum they was dirty players, but they was also great. Vontaze Burfict is a good player also, but he’s dirty. Don’t ban him, he’s just playing old school football.lol. Suspend him for a game. He’ll be alright

Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell is fed up with Bengals linebacker Vontaze Burfict.

jlkintyre says: October 23, 2017 at 2:40 pm I’ve got no horse in this race…

I watched the video and yes Burfict has control issues, but am I the only one seeing that Burfict was in on a tackle and Nix kept pushing Burfict off the pile after the tackle was made for no reason?

Burfict is an animal and Bell’s right. The guy should be out at least 8 games and if he does it again 2 years.

Roger can’t be bothered…He’s preoccupied trying to salvage his $40 mill/year contract extension.

Burfict should not only be kicked out of the league, he should be prosecuted.

hey bell you a saint right?

That was a kick ? Looked pretty harmless to me.

Bell felt that Nix showed admirable restraint by not retaliating against Burfict, but the NFL shouldn’t be restrained in its punishment of him.

Coming from a Steeler? Yup, irony is dead.

This is not deflecting, but pointing out the selective outrage by the media, the commisioner and by Bell himself. Clean up your own headhunting team first. That and stop being a baby about getting hurt on a form tackle by Burfict.

This guy is a legit talent , probably a perennial pro bowler. However, he is someone who toes the line and is usually good a few times a year to cross it. Obviously he doesn’t care about suspensions – what else do you do to this guy? It must be infuriating as a coach/team when he can’t seem to control himself.

joshhatesthesteelers says: October 23, 2017 at 9:28 am That was a kick ? Looked pretty harmless to me.

Look, everyone knows that the Browns players aren’t that good, but does that mean that the league shouldn’t protect them from head shots? Should the Steelers be lauded as physical, old school players because they’re only concussing Cleveland players?

But yes… Burfict should certainly go. As should Mike Mitchell

Burfict is no worse than Suh

Hey LeVeon: ever see a guy named Albert Haynesworth (Titans) STOMP ON Andre Gurode (Cowboys)?

I know he’s dirty, but good. The steelers deserve for all the years they pulled dirty plays (Kevin Huber, Keith Rivers, Gio Bernard, Hines ward yanking a dude down by the facemask and no call was made at all) and these are just from the top of my head without thinking. As much as I hated the Steelers back then, at least they never complained like this team does.

As a Steeler fan, I hope the Bungles do keep the guy because he’ll always do something stupid so they lose. Same for Marvin Lewis – he’s sucked for yrs & keeps his job. I love it!

“It’s unbelievable the league is just condoning this activity,” Bell wrote. “But if Rosie reacts, Rosie would be the one that would get into trouble.”

Its not like he kneeled during the National Anthem.

Turdfict has been a dirty player since day one. He has no business being in the league. Get him out before someone gets hurt badly.

Suspend him?

A player from the dirtiest team in the NFL calling out other dirty players. Just stop.

The dirtiest illegal hit to the head in the game was Davis on Mixon. A clear personal foul, but not called. Then again a total of 1 penalty called against the Steelers so it is not a surprise. The penalty was put in place because of Shazier.

I’ve got no horse in this race…

Dude is allergic to playoff wins.

Major difference between failing a drug test and the kind of physical stuff that VB does. Any moron should be able to see that.

The dumpster fire that are the Bungles is hilarious

he kicked at him after Nix kept going after the whistle, it was no different than a push he barely touched him, just because it was a foot from a guy laying on his back, get real

nothing will happen..if this guy was on the pats, there would br a lifelong suspension

Vontaze is a goon. He would more than likely be in prison if it were not for football. Good player with no common sense.

He missed this time, but maybe next time he doesn’t. Maybe this 6’1 250lb man kicks at someone and his metal cleat catches under the guys helmet and catches his throat. This is why you cant let this stuff slide. The intent should be punished, not the outcome. I actually like how he plays, he is animal – except when he crosses the line. Which is clearly the case here, he wasn’t kicking at the air.

The grand irony is that if Burfict was a Steeler, he would be lauded as “physical” and media darling.

“But he’s our team captain” – Marvin Lewis

Bell’s right.

LeVeon, the League doesn’t care about your safety. Or the safety of any other NFL player.

Steelers are the dirtiest team in the league. See Harrison hits on Josh Cribbs and Colt McCoy in same game. See Timmons hit on Cody Kessler. See Shazier hit on Deshone Kizer. All head shots.

Agree that Burfict has to go, but Mike Mitchell should be on the same bus when they ship him out of town.

…says the man who is one failed pee pee test away from being gone himself

Suspend him for at least a year. That seems to be the only way he will learn.

Bungles just gotta’ be Bungles.

That’s rich.

Bell is the last guy who should be throwing stones. He’s been calling for Burfict’s head since he hurt him years ago.

I agree, suspensions & fines aren’t working on the player. Maybe start fining/suspending the coaching staff? Is that even possible? Fining the team itself is pointless unless you’re talking about seven figures or more. Just sayin’.

Did he also call James Harrison a saint?

Coming from a steeler, a team who condoned the likes of James Harrison, Joey Porter, Hines Ward… And now Ryan Shazier and especially Mike Mitchell (who’s arguably the true dirtiest player in the league that the league conveniently turns a blind eye to).

“James Harrison: The NFL’s Real-Life Superhero Defying Father Time” is an article that comes up if you google James Harrison. He beat up his girlfriend in 2010 and was fined multiple times. The difference to a Steelers fan?

Burfict was suspended for the first three games of last season for cheap shots against the Steelers in the 2015 playoffs, and suspended for the first three games of this season for a cheap shot in the preseason. Those suspensions apparently haven’t been enough to make him change his ways. Another suspension may be in order.

Mmmm. Commissioner Bell doling our suspensions now. More proof the inmates are trying to run the asylum. And it’s too late. Reactive Roger can’t control anything anymore.

Another week, another Steeler whine, Every week it is something, Begins and ends with whiny, excuse making coach Tomlin.

But, but he’s young and just expressing himself!

How ’bout banning him from the NFL – – – National Felons League?

Did he kick him or did he kick at him? That’s a pretty big difference. You can’t start suspending players for hypotheticals. I know bell is deathly afraid of Burfict and all but cmon.

————- So you say. I get it you dont care about the safety of opposing players, but you might want to care when he ends your season by costing you playoff wins you akready had completely in hand. Understood his skills but he costs you too much in other ways its not a good trade off.

I will say though, Burfict needs to suck it up and just get back to the huddle after every play. Teams know they can rile him and he is a target. What he did was stupid, but not some huge cheap shot. It’s not like Cody Wallace on David Bruton or Mike Mitchell on Alex Smith or Mike Mitchell on Tyler Eifert or Mike Mitchell on AJ Green or Ben Roethlisberger on Emmanuel Ogbah……

jjackwagon says: October 23, 2017 at 8:23 am

Only 27 years? You need to work longer.

5 and 14 in the playoffs. No playoff wins since the 1990 playoffs. I will put that in perspective. Five months after they last won a playoff game, I started my job I just retired from.

Pac-12 fans have known what an out-of-control psycho Burfict is for years. We saw him cheapshot players just about every down when he wasn’t being ejected or getting personal fouls.

Is anyone surprised? Didn’t he lead the national in personal foul penalties while he was at Arizona State?

In the interest of their clients, the player’s union should demand that the nfl removes from football.

That’s like saying if I shoot at someone and don’t hit them, I shouldn’t be charged. You cant have guys trying to kick each other in the league. These guys are too big and strong for that.

More importantly, why aren’t the teams and/or the league doing anything about it?

Burfict is garbage. He’s a bum. I’m not a Cincy fan but he has hurt the Bengals more than he’s helped. Obviously he can’t or won’t learn from multiple suspensions so something should be done.

I normally do not bring this name up cuz everyone else does it enough….but here goes. Burfict is without a doubt(except maybe in the eyes of bengal fans) if not the biggest cheapshot artists in the nfl hes DEFINITELY top 3 and is still trying to hurt folks. Meanwhile kaep…who has never tried to hurt anyone… Has been basically blackballed for doing a VERY AMERICAN thing protesting. Smmfh something just isnt right about that.

The time to PERMANENTLY BAN Burfect has come. I’m a Packer fan. A few years back Burfect PUNCHED one of our offensive lineman in the groin region in a pile at the line. No refs saw it but the NFL did and fined him. That’s not football. Every year he does stupid stuff and it’s time to make an example out of him.

Nothing will change until his prime enabler, Marvin Lewis, is also suspended. No, wait. That won’t change anything. Because Lewis is a dimwit who will continue enabling him.

Steelers own the Bungles @$$.

Bungles just gotta’ be Bungles.

Cincy fans will only try to deflect by talking about other players because they don’t want to face the facts that they have a seriously dirty filthy player that tries to hurt people after the plays are over. Supported and defended by their coach as well. It’s nice to see the NFL taking notice of the dirty tactics.

Dude is usually the best player on the field, but just like when he was concussing himself with his head first tackles early in his career, if he can’t stay on the field what is the point? I honestly don’t see any reason in kicking him out of the league though. Just keep suspending him and he’ll be Josh Gordon eventually.

I seem to recall Antonio Brown jump kicking the Brown’s punter in the face a few years ago….wonder what the hypocritical Steelers fans have to say about that.

careful. He might grow up to be president.
